Very good cashew chicken with egg roll and crab rangoon. Quick service. Decent prices (lunch deal was $6.50 or so for a meal)
Most importantly, across the road from Drury. Might be my new quick pop-in place after class.

I've been exploring Springfield some and decided to try this place looking at the photos and quality reviews!
I ordered the general tso chicken extra spicy with vegetable lo mein and it was so delicious. The general tso chicken was probably the best I've ever had like it was literally more chicken than the breaded stuff around it which you can't find anywhere else. The only thing I didn't like as much about the lo mein was their choice in noodles. I like the thicker and softer ones than the ones they used. However, the flavor was still very good.

This place is located so close to where my nursing program is so I'll definitely be back there chowing down.

Decided to try New Oriental Restaurant on the advice of a co-worker. The restaurant is located 5 minutes from where I work, that seemed convenient.

So my order was; Hot and Sour Soup, and the lunch special of General Tso Chicken. The lunch special comes with an egg roll, a Crab Rangoon and Fried Rice.

Hot and Sour Soup; loved the fact that it was loaded with mushrooms, and I think shredded chicken or pork... couldn't tell. The broth wasn't like most, you know that thick light brown almost gravy broth. This was actual broth, but there wasn't any flavor. It was spicy, because of all the red pepper flakes, but overall no flavor. It almost seemed like the broth may have been watered down. I give their soup a C-

Egg Roll, not sure I would call it an egg roll. It was more like a spring roll. Flavor was on the sweet side, but nothing special. C

Crab Rangoon was good, had good flavor, but it wasn't any more special than other restaurants Rangoon. A

Tso Chicken, they state that it is a spicy dish with a red pepper on their menu. I found zero spicy, didn't even see any red pepper flakes or sliced red peppers as you might normally see in Tso Chicken. No green or red bell peppers or onions. Flavor was sweet, which Tso shouldn't be. This was no Tso Chicken I have ever had. C

Fried Rice, again C no carrots or peas in the rice just rice.

Overall if you are in a rush this is a great place to order. I called in my order and was told 15 minutes. I arrived at the restaurant 5 minutes after calling, and my order was just coming out of the kitchen. A+ on speedy cooking, which might be the reason they aren't scoring very high in my book on flavor. My fear is that most of their dishes are pre-made "Sysco" food distribution recipes. All they are doing is heating and serving, no real cooking. This is all a guess, and I could be wrong. If they are actually cooking.... yikes!

If you like fast food Chinese and aren't picky about flavor, i would recommend this place. If you do like flavor, travel a little farther west on Chestnut to another Chinese restaurant, it will be on your right at the corner of N Campbell Ave and Chestnut.

Best Chinese food in this town. Love the sesame chicken with the rice and two crab rangoons instead of the spring roll. It's flavorful, great texture, quality meat, always made well and doesn't seem too unhealthy. The bubble tea (mango specifically) is great too, if you want to treat yourself. The people who work here are always nice and friendly. The location is really good for the college students in the north of town. They also deliver if you don't want to leave your place to go to the restaurant (must be at least a $12 order). I love this Chinese food place and it's my all time favorite, even though it is fairly new. They started strong and consistently bring the quality.

How can I explain it without exaggerating or without undercutting this food.

I always travel around the USA and try to find the best Asian Cuisine. This Chinese food was one of THE BEST I have had. The garlic chicken was a little under seasoned but the crisp vegetables and perfectly cooked chicken made up for it. The General tso's was THE BEST I have ever had. It was perfected cooked and glazed in a nice sauce and the chicken was cooked to perfected. Not chewy and not hard, it was perfect.
